SUMMER

Alice Cooper sang "Schools Out For The Summer" and there is no better place to Discover Citrus County. Boating is in full swing with our Tarpon and Cobia running wild inshore and offshore. Fishing is always a great way to Discover the natural bounty. Our waterways offer coves and rivers to explore. Scalloping is a tradition here and we offer some of the most fertile scalloping grounds anywhere on the Nature Coast. Grab a charter and a captain can put you on the "Dollops of the sea". Many hotels offer guides for a stay and play package. Golfing is a favorite here as long before we were known as The Manatee Capital of the world. We were the premier golfing destination of retirees. Bring your stick and get your kicks.

SPRING

Springtime here in Citrus County last so long. We have a vibrant growing season of natural plants and the wildlife is busy showing us the wonders of what Citrus County has to offer. The crowds are low around our Natural attractions. The ideal time for a quick getaway from the concrete jungles.

FALL

Fall offers festivals and some of the nicest weather here. Vegetables are the freshest as the harvests come in. The hotel rooms are not as busy as the manatee season coming. Festivals of Stone Crabs Dance on the palette. Some of the best fishing can be found in creeks and just offshore. The Piers and creeks come alive with saltwater action. Easily accessible from land these areas such as Ozello or the barge canal and Fort Island Gulf Beach. Bass Fishing heats up on the lakes and new World records are waiting to be made with that one more cast.

WINTER

Brings some of our favorite Nature Coast Adventurer activities. The day and nights are clear and cooler, a walk to the top of the Crystal River Archaeological Site. Clear Moonlight provides a look back to when Indians made this their home. Maybe a ride to the causeway in Ozello for a storm front coming thru. Bicycling to the end of the barge canal.   Manatees begin to flood our rivers and springs the colder the better. Kayak or paddleboard your way around and Discover Citrus County. Charter a captain for the best laid back no worries experience. The Nature Coast comes alive in the woods as most are nice and cool to hike and explore. Our vast state and county recreation areas are your access to discover. Festivals celebrating our beloved Manatee and Art Work from locals are a sure-fire way to bring the Discover Citrus County vibe home with you to share.
