Old Florida can be found in our Springs and our Trails along the Nature Coast. One pleasure can be found hiking the Withlacoochee Forest. The Dames Caves can be a great day trip Exploring caves and caverns. A cool drink down a deep plunge into Florida's crust of cool. Hiking to the site you can think of Ancient Indians using this as a cool summer hideaway. Batchellor pad if you will. You could fish and hunt your days away. The Withlacoochee is a great trail system to Discover.

CHASSAHOWITZKA SALT MARSH TRAILS

Located one mile south of the center of Old Homosassa on South Mason Creek Road, this compact network of trails created by the Friends of the Crystal River and Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuges converges on Lastinger Tower which provides a sweeping view of a vast span of Salt Marsh. Wildlife abounds in the early morning and late evening. Don't forget the bug spray. You may need it, especially in the warmer months.
